STUDIO TROIKA WON THE BDW GRAND PRIX

02

London based studio Troika has been awarded with BDW Grand Prix by popular vote of the conference delegates. Troika thus follows the giant’s footsteps of earlier BDW champions like Mathieu Lehanneur, Patrizia Urquiola, Ross Lovegrove, Patrik Schumacher, Jaime Hayon, Konstantin Grcic and Peter Bonen of MUUTO.

– An inspiring array of speakers paired with an outstanding sense of hospitality, Belgrade Design Week fulfills every promises, said Sebastien Noel from Troika.

Troika is a London based studio founded by Eva Rucki, Conny Freyer and Sebastien Noel, known for their experimental practice and projects that employ a cross-disciplinary approach and intersect between sculpture, architecture, and contemporary installation. Troika were selected to create three art installations for the UK Pavilion at the World Expo Shanghai 2010. Their work explores the intersection of rational thought, observation and the changing nature of reality and human experience. Sebastien Noel was guiding us through the unique approach of their practice at BDW’s conference.

OUR BLOG

Belgrade Design week unlike so may other city design events has a wonderfully essential vibe about it. Nothing pretentious in the air but big bags of energy and enthusiasm. It feels like the Serbs haven't already decided what design is and so are open and ready to riff off the ideas that come in to sharp focus over these precious days. The city itself has a gritty charm about it which complements the event perfectly.
