Digital provocateur Shane RJ Walter is a producer, curator, writer, speaker and co-founder and creative director of onedotzero, global-reaching contemporary digital art, film and design organization. onedotzero operates internationally with a remit to promote innovation across all forms of moving image and interactive arts. Activities encompass commissioning, production, public events, content development, publishing, DVD label, education, and the global touring festival onedotzero_adventures in motion that premieres at the BFI Southbank before visiting up to 50 cities annually. He has commissioned and produced scores of award winning short films and animations appearing on BBC, MTV, TCM in addition to producing and directing the two Channel 4 series of onedottv over 18 episodes.
Shane founded sister company, onedotzero industries, to produce and consult for the world’s best-known brands and bands from Nike to MTV, U2 to the Pet Shop Boys, producing innovative multi-disciplinary work across visuals, installations, animation, print and motion graphics. He has contributed to several publications and written two onedotzero books Motion Blur 1 and Motion Blur 2 and the soon to be released Re-imagining The City due 2011. He has curated projects at ICA, SFMOMA, Tate Modern, Stockholm Moderna Museet, Hayward Gallery, Taipei Fine Art Museum and co-curated the hugely popular Decode: Digital Design Sensations exhibition at the V&A Museum, touring to CAFA Beijing and Garage Museum Moscow.
He is a regular speaker, presenter, chair and jury member for international film festivals, design conferences, agencies, colleges and awards including D&AD, Design Museum Designs of the Year, BBC Film Network, British Council, Vimeo Awards, Sonar, Promax, Golden Horse, Vienna, Rotterdam, Sydney, Melbourne, Taipei and Zurich Film Festivals. He has appeared on national TV and Radio in the UK and numerous countries around the world. Shane has been a member of the prestigious International Academy Of Digital Arts and Sciences since 2008. In 2010 he was named in the Wired 100 list of individuals that are shaping the digital world in, recognized as a cultural leader by the Honda Dream Factory and Courvoisier Future 500 and included in Hospital Club 100 list of the most influential people in the creative and media industries in the established digital category alongside executives from BBC, News Corp and Facebook. He was named by Little White Lies magazine as one of the 10 people responsible for making British Short film the most vibrant in the universe in 2007 and Screen International’s 25th anniversary issue as one of ten of individuals alongside Ridley Scott and Mike Figgis breaking new ground for the future of cinema back in 2000.
