KJELL EKHORN / NON-FORMAT (NO)

Related Projects: Belgrade Design Week Festival 2012

Kjell Ekhorn (Norwegian) and Jon Forss (British) have worked together as the creative direction & design team Non-Format since 2000. The two studios are located on each side of the Atlantic ocean; one in the Twin Cities, USA and one in Oslo, Norway.

With the firm belief in the importance of bespoke design solutions, Non-Format has been working with the clients to communicate their messages, define their identities and build their brands since the turn of the millennium. Despite the reputation for expressive imagery and custom typography, the firm conviction is that each and every one of their design solutions must balance the desire to connect with individuals on an emotional level with the need for direct, strategic and effective communication.

Sometimes Non-Format works with small businesses helping them to establish just the right voice for their brilliant new ventures. Sometimes studio works with multi-national brands on campaigns or major product launches. Sometimes Non-Format works with publishers or retailers, creating editorial design for magazines, books or publications of all kinds. Sometimes studio works with record labels to establish an identity for a new band, and perhaps even a good old-fashioned album sleeve with promo material. And sometimes they work with art directors at advertising agencies, helping them with their campaigns, perhaps by creating a photographic or illustrative image, or maybe some custom made typography, all within the tightest of deadlines.

One thing for certain is that Non-Format passionate about what they do and have a body of work that they’re extremely proud of. It has taken them more than a decade of working with some of the best-known companies in the world to create the unique portfolio of projects.

Great impressions from the conference, but also from the city, from the parties, and from the food!”
