JELOVAC AT LDF 2012
Jovan Jelovac, chairman and curator of Belgrade Design Week participated in the London Design Festival, one of the world’s most important annual design events, from September 14 – 22nd. The Festival programme was made up of over 300 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of partner organizations across the design spectrum and from around the world. The centerpiece of the Festival were the Landmark Projects for which some of the world’s greatest architects and designers created pieces of work in some of London’s best-loved public spaces. If anything is evidence of this city’s vitality, it’s the sheer scope and quality of the Festival events programmed by its partners. From established businesses to emerging practies, from entrepreneurs to educators, from manufacturers to retailers, LDF’s partners represent the heart of London’s design culture. Arguably, the main difference between London and similar events in Milan and around the world are the numerous discussions and exchange platforms. As LDF’s chairmen Sir John Sorrel, the next key-note lecturer at Belgrade Design Week’s 2013 conference, said, “If we’re going to try and make sure that design and creativity shape a better world, then we need to talk about it.” Jelovac participated in key LDF, BEDA (Bureau of European Design Associations), 100% DESIGN, Designjunction and British Council discussions, talks and panels during the festival.
