brand new world brings forth international studios who epitomize the approach ‘designers – makers – entrepreneurs’ — rethinking the traditional business and creative model. produced by vesna and jovan jelovac, the on-going exhibition travelled to milan design week 2015, where it highlighted innovative projects from the likes of buro belen, reinier bosch and carolina wilcke, studio drift, tom strala, studio appétit, adrien rovero and ilan garibi for gal gaon collection within the showroom of fashion house DUŠAN.

‘scenes from the prairie’ draws on traditional furniture, the bucolic and folkloristic. the furniture speaks of forgotten typologies which are still found in rural environments — updated to create a dialog of cultural idiosyncrasies, or to contrast them. the series draw from patterns and objects of traditional craft, such as shaker furniture and quilting, which have been interpreted in a contemporary way, resulting in a robust and waterproof family pieces that are assembled by hand.

‘come as you are’ is a simple modest bar cart with reference to classic serving trolleys. by reducing its components to their essence, the three-dimensional outer railing acts to envelope and unite the two overlapping serving surfaces to overcome the austerity of this archetype.
